Like other reviewers traveling on I-55, we have seen the signs for Stonie's and have wanted to stop but we're always in a rush to get from our home in Georgia to our son's in KC. Today we took the time and boy was it worth it! The restaurant/sausage shop is very easy to get to from the highway, it's about a mile from the exit.
We ordered a Reuben with slaw and a Dagwood with kettle chips. Both sandwiches were delicious but the star was the Dagwood.it was outstanding! The kettle chips were freshly prepared and served warm.
My wife loved the vinegar based poppy seed slaw. All of the staff we encountered (and even the customers) were super friendly. As we were leaving we ordered some coffee to go and one of the staff made a fresh pot for us. We will definitely return on our next road trip.
